


When Meddelin Chan ends up accidentally killing her blind date, her meddlesome mother calls for her even more meddlesome aunties to help get rid of the body. It’s no wonder this has already been optioned by Netflix to be made into a film, and I’ve been talking it up to other readers at my library since about page 20 as likely my favorite summer read thus far.

Replete with hijinks and belly laughs, a loveable/meddling cast of well-meaning aunties, and so many twists and turns, this is a perfect palate cleanser (or confuddler?) because of the sheer amount of stuff happening. There is no better way to describe Dial A for Aunties other than a romp. “Big Aunt nods her approval when the Ah Yi puts the bamboo steamers down in the center of our table, and I feel an almost overwhelming need to beat my chest and crow.
